Integrating Digital tools into a Language Course
Education around the world has been evolving along with technology and new challenges are being faced by teachers of all disciplines. With the developing technology, educational methods have changed, and blended classrooms have become the “alternative” for digital and face-to-face education. Now, teachers have the challenge of maintaining what has been effective from those methods and approaches and adopting new technologies to handle the instructional needs of today’s digital students.
One of the aims of language teaching is to have productive, successful classes in which students learn the language by means of not only the traditional methodologies or approaches but through the use of emerging technologies that make learning more meaningful. English teachers are able to adapt their teaching strategies to different circumstances such as age, language level, learning styles, subject, etc. This is because language instruction methodologies and approaches have provided us with the tools to do so. Currently, thanks to the wide range of possibilities on new technologies, teachers’ opportunities to have better procedures to teach a language have increased and the outcomes of such conjunction are classes with higher quality, a communicative emphasis, with creative, active, and interactive dynamics, and a more motivating production.
The MOOC Integrating Digital tools into a Language Class seeks to show teachers different ways to adapt technology to the existing language teaching approaches and methods and the processes that make part of our daily teaching.
